The top four archers in the Men's Compound event of the Cuchulainn Archers/DkIT Winter Series pose with their cheques. Just off the podium is Cuchulainn's Eamonn Rogers, who finished fourth
The final shoot in the CúChulainn/DkIT Winter Series took place in the DkIT Sports Arena earlier this month and as always it proved to be a very popular with all bow categories.
The final day of competition comprised of two parts, the first part was the actual competition of the day which was a FITA 18x2 event, with the winners then presented with medals. The 2nd part was the final of the actual Series.
The placings for the home club in the FITA 18x2 were as always high class, with medals galore coming across the various categories. On home soil, they are always keen to impress and Cuchulainn didn’t’ disappoint as they finished the day with five podium finishes.
In the women’s compound category, it was Adria Quinn who went home with the gold. In the Men’s event, Neil Keeble took the spoils, while Enda Murray grabbed a Bronze. Just coming short after a good round of shooting was Alex Finn, who ended the event in 4th.
Moving onto the women’s barebow event and it was Siobhan Keeble that was standing on the podium after grabbing third spot. She was followed closely behind in fourth by Anne Marie Murray.
The men’s compound was a blank in terms of medals for the club, but performing well in defeat was Fiachra Judge and Shay Barry, who finished the competition in fifth and sixth position respectively.
Finally, in the men’s recurve Brendan Forde picked up a bronze, while Stephen McShane came sixth.
After the excitement of day’s sport was over, came the overall Series Finale even, as the best archers from the past weeks weeks competed for the overall crown. Again, Cuchulainn/DKIT held their own.
Coming first in Women’s Compound Final was Adria Quinn, the winner of the final event, while in second position on the podium was fellow club archer Jo Ann Bell. The men’s event saw Eamonn Rogers narrowly miss out on a series medal.
The barebow category was a huge success for the club, with the podiums for both the male and female series Final dominated by Cuchulainn/DkIT archers.
The male event was a clean sweep, with Neil Keeble taking the gold, Enda Murray the silver and Alex Finn the Bronze. Ann Marie Murray was second in women’s series, followed closely by Siobhan Keeble in third place overall. Rose Anne O’Donnell in fourth was unlucky to miss out on a medal.
In the Recurve Men, the club had one more podium place as Brendan Forde showcased his skills by taking second place. Just missing on a bronze was Sean Murphy, who was impressive throughout the series, but still ended the series in fourth come thr final.
A very enjoyable time was had by all, winners or losers, with everyone already looking forward to the next competition.
