Louth manager Mickey Harte believes Sam Mulroy will be fit for the remaining two crunch Allianz Division 2 games against Cork and Dublin.

His side coped well without the talisman but with injuries mounting within the Louth camp, they will want their captain on the field as they set their sights on promotion after a five point win over Kildare on Sunday.

“It’s a hamstring threat,” Harte revealed to the Dundalk Democrat afterwards.

“If he had played on further on it, it could have been more than a threat. There may be a slight tear. He never had a hamstring injury in his life and it happened on the field.”

Overall Harte was happy with how his side adapted with the loss of their captain five minutes before half time.

“That would have been enough to rock us alone, Harte began. "You haven’t got Sam, what are we going to do here, but it’s good that the rest of the players rolled up their sleeves.

“We’ve lost serious men, serious operators in our team. We lost one before and two men during the game the last day – three men who were starters – and then our captain and talisman today, it just shows how good they are as a team. They lost personnel but the person who comes in fits into the system.”
