Dundalk councillor to continue to push for lighting at McNeela Walkway
Cllr Conor Keelan has said that he will continue to press Louth County Council to install lighting at the McNeela Riverside Walk in Dundalk and will raise the issue when the Council holds its next meeting for the local authority's next budget, if it is not addressed by then.
Cllr Keelan raised the matter at the Dundalk Municipal District March meeting, having been informed previously by Louth Couty Council that his request for lighting at the public walkway would not be carried out by the local authority.
The Dundalk councillor told the March meeting that he firmly believes that it should be addressed by the Council and it was an important matter that should not be left on the long finger. Lighting of the walkway, he told the meeting, would be for the safety of all its users, including children.
He added that there is cable already there, as it was installed at the time of the walkway's construction, and that would help reduce the expense of installing the lighting.
