AMTCE in Dundalk announces Women Only course in 3D Concrete Printing

As the demand for new housing remains extremely high and recruitment into the trades remains challenging, AMTCE (Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre of Excellence) says it is delighted to announce a one-day course exclusively for women in 3D concrete printing (3DCP) on Monday 20th March 2023 in Drogheda.

AMTCE says the purpose of this dedicated course is to encourage more women to consider the construction industry as a career option. The course will be delivered by FutureCast on behalf of the AMTCE with the support of the Women in Construction and Quarrying Ireland (WICQI) steering group.

3DCP is a cutting-edge construction technique that has the potential to significantly influence the future of the construction industry. The course is open to architects and their office and technical staff as well as design and structural engineers and building contractors interested in the newest methods of construction.

The course will provide learners with the fundamentals of 3D concrete printing including the equipment, the processes, the materials, and the opportunities that this cutting-edge technology brings.

According to the experts, using a 3D Concrete Printer can deliver the concrete structure for a three-bedroom house in less than a week. Course registration is at https://www.fetchcourses.ie/ course/finder?sfcw-courseId=399595

Martin O’Brien, CEO of LMETB and founder of AMTCE, said ‘Without training, having the technology isn’t enough. We’ve moved into this space and are now providing training for architects, technicians, designers and builders to become familiar with the technology and learn how to use it as a method of delivering housing units.”

AMTCE says its courses are delivered by leading industry training practitioners to ensure the highest quality learning experience and outcomes, providing access to the latest technologies, and with small classes to ensure the learners have opportunity for hands on exposure to industry grade training equipment.

AMTCE training courses are provided through Skills to Advance, a national funding policy Framework, available through the ETBs (education and training boards) to support employees and employers in accessing upskilling and reskilling training opportunities.

Caitriona Bergin, chair of the steering group for Women in Construction and Quarrying Ireland (WCQI) said, “International women's day is a great opportunity to celebrate women and their achievements all over the globe.

"Women in Construction and Quarrying Ireland are grateful to AMTCE and LMETB Skills to Advance for providing training for women in new careers within the construction industry through this Introduction to 3D Construction Printing course taking place on Mon 20 March 2023. Providing opportunities for women to advance and achieve great things is the best way to celebrate International Women's Day 2023.”
