Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) students from the BA in Theatre and Film Practice said they are excited to announce a magnificent production of Hedda Gabler by Brian Friel (after Henrik Ibsen) will be showcased in the MacAnna Theatre on campus.
The performance will run for three nights at 7pm on Tuesday 28th, Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th March.
Brian Friel’s modern, Hibernicised, adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic is presented as part of the BA Theatre and Film Practice at Dundalk institute of Technology.
The play is about when Hedda Gabler returns from a long honeymoon to her new home.
Seemingly dissatisfied by her obliging academic husband and bored by her surroundings, she rejects a life of tedium by conspiring to create tension and drama among her family and friends.
Aided by the cunning Judge Brack, Hedda enacts a campaign of manipulation on those around her, illuminating a wide variety of hidden secrets and desires.
The third year BA Theatre and Film Practice students add contemporary credibility to Friel’s interpretation, imbibing this classic with a fresh relevance, a DkIT spokesperson said.
This play runs for twwo hours and is suitable for audiences 16+
Admission is €3 (Cash only) and no booking necessary.
