Paddy Malone and Michael Gaynor of Dundalk Chamber meeting His excellency Akhilesh Mishra
The Ambassador of India to Ireland visited Dundalk recently, visiting a number of locations including DkIT, Louth County Council and Dundalk Chamber.
The Ambassador expressed his wish to create a greater connection with Ireland outside of Dublin.
In particular, he said he wished to engage with businesses and individuals in the creative world. He also believed that there was huge potential for Irish businesses in India.
He highlighted the common language and similar legal structures of both countries.
Representatives from Dundalk Chamber, Michael Gaynor and Paddy Malone, met with the ambassador, with Mr Gaynor outlining the area’s history and culture.
Mr Malone explained the reason for the strong presence of local engineering and related businesses.
He also outlined Dundalk’s location, and the priority given to the M1 Corridor by the Government from Drogheda to Newry.
In response to the ambassador’s queries regarding skills and education, Mr Malone outlined the role of DkIT (which the Ambassador had visited the previous day), O’Fiaich College and LMETB.
The Ambassador stated that he wished to return to meet any industry or creative arts business interested in collaboration with India.
