Its just over two weeks till the eagerly awaited Liverpool Legends vs Louth Legends soccer match at Oriel Park and Saturday saw the arrival of some Liverpool sporting history to the town in anticipation of the event.
The Marshes Shopping Centre was the venue for the showcasing of the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup trophies all acquired by the club in recent years.
Photos with the trophies were free with fans asked to make a donation to the charities, there was a great turnout with some much needed funds raised.
The organisers wish to thank all involved on the day:
“From the bottom of our hearts we cannot thank everyone enough for their generosity today at our Trophy Event in the Marshes Shopping Centre.
“To everyone who donated money, bought tickets and scarfs .
“For everyone who turned up for a picture with our trophies, our youngest supporter, the beautiful Avery Rose, just two weeks old, and the staff and residents of the wonderful Maria Goretti Foundation, and all the massive Liverpool fans who cant wait for the big game in April! .
“We look forward to seeing you all in Oriel Park April 15th!”
The game will see a stellar line up of former Liverpool players take on some local Louth Legends.
The fundraiser aims to raise as much money as possible for two local Louth services linked with autism, the first being Realt Na Mara Early Intervention Unit and Autism Centre and secondly the Maria Goretti Foundation.
Organisers say the issue is very close to their hearts and they understand meeting the complex needs of a child with ASD can put families under a lot of stress, emotionally and financially.
By raising money for these services they hope the funds will enable them to further the success of many projects and programmes for children on the autism spectrum.
The game will feature a host of Liverpool legends including: Jermaine Pennant, Mark Wright, Stephen McMahon, Alan Kennedy, Jerzy Dudek, John Aldridge and Ray Houghton.
The winning cup in the Liverpool Legends vs Louth Legends will be dedicated to Calvin Gray who passed away in September 2022 following a tragic accident.
Tickets can be bought on Eventbrite.com for €15 by searching Liverpool Legends vs Louth Legends.
