Fianna Faìil Senator Erin McGreehan has welcomed the announcement of the successful applicants for the GAA Walking Tracks initiative.
Under the funding, Annaghminnon Rovers GFC will receive €15,000 while Naomh Martin will receive €25,000.
This once-off €815,000 funding provided by Healthy Ireland is designed to make community walking tracks located on GAA grounds more accessible to more people.
Senator Erin McGreehan said: “I’m delighted to see this announcement of the successful clubs for the Irish Life GAA Healthy Club Project.
"With funding being provided, Annaghminnon Rovers GFC will be granted €15,000 while Naomh Martin will receive €25,000.
"GAA clubs are doing brilliant work in fostering social connections and expanding access to their facilities, which improves the health and well-being of everyone who uses them.
"I want to commend Annaghminnon Rovers and Naomh Martin for their significant contribution to their communities and thank the GAA for their dedication and hard work throughout the process.”
In partnership with Healthy Ireland, funding of €815,000 was made available through a competitive application process to affiliated GAA, Camogie and LGFA clubs in the 26 counties to upgrade existing walking tracks situated on club grounds.
Almost 340 applications were received and following a comprehensive evaluation process by a selection committee, 54 clubs across 26 counties were successful.
