Louth councillor urges public to have its say on 'Living in Carlingford'

Cllr Antoin Watters

Dundalk-Carlingford's Cllr Antóin Watters is urging people in the Carlingford community to have their say on the planned “Living in Carlingford” project that aims to regenerate the north Louth village.

Public consultation on Louth County Council's plans to carry out public realm enhancements to Carlingford town centre, the Ghan Road, the R173 and the Liberties areas within the greater Carlingford area, is underway, with submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, due by before 5.00 pm on Tuesday 30 May 2023.

Cllr Watters told the Dundalk Democrat that information on the public consultation on “Living in Carlingford” is now being advertised and posted all around the community in Carlingford, with a lot of people in the local area engaging with it.

Cllr Watters says he is “encouraging all the stakeholders to have their say on it. "There's big changes proposed and we need to get as much feedback as we can to ensure its done right”, he adds.

Cllrs were reminded at the Dundalk Municipal District April meeting, following a presentation from RPS Group Limited, the company tasked with developing the plan for Carlingford's regeneration, that should Part 8 planning be granted for the project, Louth County Council would still need to source funding to carry it out.

Information on the project, including on how to make submissions and view documents and drawings can be found at : https://louthcoco.ie/en/services/placemaking-physical-development/regeneration-projects/living-in-carlingford-visiting-carlingford/.
