Improvement works carried out at Annloughan trail in north Louth

Louth County Council have unveiled a series of improvements to the Annaloughan Loop at Upper Jenkinstown in north Louth, following a €20,000 investment in upgrading the route.

The scenic trail, which is hugely popular for walking and hiking, has seen repairs carried out over recent months on the ground surface, which have helped to provide a safer, more accessible place for walkers and visitors

Louth County Council were awarded ORIS (Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme) funding of €18,000 to carry out  improvement works along the Annaloughan Trail. An additional €2,000 was provided by the Council in match funding.  

The aim of the project was to improve existing recreational facilities in the area, make it safer for all users, and encourage tourists and visitors to explore the area.

Louth County Council partnered with Coillte on the project, which included walking surface repair and improvement, installation of a surface water drainage system, along with the installation of a new ‘kissing gate’ and associated works .
