Artist exhibiting in the outdoor gallery at the Deserted Village
Following the success of last year's outdoor gallery experience held on the hillside on Anaverna, Ravensdale, local artist Suzanne Carroll is organising an even more ambitious event for this year.
Suzanne has collaborated with curator Shannon Carroll and they have invited eight artists from Louth and further afield to make work in response to this year's intriguing site the Deserted Village on Barnavave, South Commons, Carlingford.
In line with the exhibition title Barnavave -Tread Softly artists are being encouraged to consider their materials and process in relation to the environment when making work.
The intention is to install the work for one-day-only within the dry stone walls of the Deserted Village on Barnavave Mountain.
Artists who are exhibiting at the outdoor gallery are Áine Ryan, Úna Curley, Gráinne Murphy, Órlaith Cullinan, Suzanne Carroll, Deborah Corcoran, Rosie O’Reilly, Eirn Redmond and Mel Galley
Viewing is from 12-5pm on Saturday 20th. All are welcome.
Please take note of the following in advance:
* Parking along the road side is very limited so the organisers are asking that people who can to walk either from St James Church, Grange A91 EA33 (20 minute walk) or park beside the Tourist Office, Carlingford A91 CV06 (30-40 min walk).
Eircode for the entrance on to the mountain is A91 E2XC.
From the road the walk up the mountain to the Deserted Village is sign posted and takes about 10 mins.
* Depending on weather conditions the ground may be wet and uneven in parts.
* Unfortunately dogs are not permitted on the mountain due to sheep/lambs roaming freely.
