Dundalk Golf Notes: Aaron Myles secure Paddy Markey Cup

Connor McCaughey wins Dessie Ward’s President’s Prize at Dundalk Golf Club

Darren Myles won the Paddy Markey Cup which was played over the last weekend of May.

Playing off three, he shot a nett 68 which included four birdies and 11 pars. The birdies came at the eighth, 10th 14th and 18th as he went out and back in 34 nett on both nines.

That left him one shot better than Cathal Purcell (15), Peter Rogers (3) and Richard Barry (10), who shot 69 nett. Rogers took the Veterans Prize while Barry claimed Division 1 and Quigley took Division 2. Caolan Rafferty had five birdies as he shot a one under par 71 for the best gross score.

The Wednesday Open, sponsored by Deluxe Bathrooms, was won by Ronan Farrelly (10) who shot 41pts to beat last year’s Captain’s Prize winner James Rogers (23) by one point. Farrelly had birdies at the fifth and eighth, as he went out in 23pts before coming home in 18pts.

The Summer Social 9-hole competitions started on June 9th. There are also more time slots available for the Summer Madness 9-hole shotgun on June 16th.

Division 1: Richard Barry (10) 69. Ross Quigley (10) 70. Division 2: Cathal Purcell (15) 69, Noel McGuinness (18) 71. Div 3 Winner (18 to 54.) Cathal O'Neill 1(21) 71, Hugh Reilly (23) 72.

Wednesday May 31 - Deluxe Bathrooms Open Singles Stableford - Overall: Ronan Farrelly (10) 41pts. James Rogers (23) 40pts. Division 1: Dillon Greene (8) 38pts. Division 2: Ciaran Murphy (17) 40pts. Division 3: Colm O'Hanrahan (25) 39pts. Gross Recognition: Christopher Clarke (0) 37pts.

DUNDALK LADIES

Joanne Lynch returned the best score of the 18-Hole Singles Stableford, played on Saturday May 27th and Tuesday May 30th.

Joanne had a superb 40 points to claim the Division 3 title. Joan Corrigan was the winner of Division 2 with 38 points.

The Division 1 top spot was a keenly fought contest between the Rowland sisters, with Anna beating Katie on countback, after both had shot 37 points. Very well done to all the prize winners.

The Carton Cup team take a lead into the home leg of their match against Headfort, having won three of their away matches. The Revive Active side were in action against Rathcore. Best of luck to all involved.

Division 1: Anna Rowland (14) 37pts, Katie Rowland (11) 37pts, Elizabeth McGuinness (20) 35pts.

Division 2: Joan Corrigan (22) 39pts, Anne Murray (24) 38pts, Grainne Gallagher (29) 38pts.

Division 3: Joanne Lynch (35) 40pts, Mairead Ahern (32) 38pts, Alison Quigley (38) 37pts.  

9-Hole Competition: Marcella Ui Chonluain 18pts, Ann Redahan 17pts.
