Green Students, Grammar School receiving their certificate
First Year Green CSPE students in Dundalk Grammar School received their Certificates for completing their first year of the Young Social Innovators (YSI) Junior Programme. The students were introduced to the programme as part of their CSPE class.
As part of the YSI programme, the students undertook projects on a range of social issues involving Green Schools, Simon Community, Sport, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Homes for Unwanted Greyhounds, Crosscause and Louth Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
They researched their chosen issue, raised awareness and raised funds. They attended the Junior YSI Showcase in Dublin where they were encouraged to speak out about their chosen issue. All the students worked in groups.
The students can be proud of what they have achieved this academic year. Various speakers from relevant organisations were invited in to talk to the class over the year.
So much went on that not only have they managed to raise much needed funds for various charities, but they have benefited enormously from their own personal development and real-life educational experience.
The Certificates were presented to the students by Amanda Downes, YSI Local Leader - Fingal, South County Dublin & Louth.
