Two teams from Dundalk Grammar School were represented at the ECO UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards National Showcase Finals 2023 held in the National Convention Centre Dublin.
Both groups came through two qualifying rounds to be selected for the National Showcase.
Environmental Expert-ees, a group of four TY students, participated in the Senior Section.
The focus of their project was on fast fashion.
DGS Young Environmentalists, a team of two 1st Year students, participated in the Junior Section.
Their project focused on making their school a Green School.
Both groups are very passionate about the environment and developing a greater awareness of all issues green, a spokesperson for the school said.
The students participated through the year in the Young Environmentalist
Awards Programme run by ECO UNESCO, the senior group as part of TY and the junior group as art of their CSPE course.
The Programme stimulated them to action and they were thrilled to be able to take their projects to the Convention Centre and exhibit them on a national stage.
The day capped a fine year for the students and their projects, who had also participated in the Young Social Innovators Programme. A busy and fulfilling year for both groups.
