JOHN MITCHELS 1-14 CUCHULAINN GAELS 0-7
John Mitchels clinched the Division 3B title on Tuesday night when they defeated Cuchulainn Gaels by ten points at Ballybailie.
It was another impressive display by the hosts as they made it 12 wins from 12 and secured top spot in the table with two games to spare, landing a first title since 1998.
It was a cagey affair at the start with both teams taking a while to settle into the game, before the Mitchels got on the scoreboard first through a John Gallagher point. The teams were going point for point at this stage, with a further two points from John Gallagher.
With 10 minutes to go in the first half, the hosts started to turn the screw and points from John Bingham, Stephen Campbell, Trevor Matthews, Robbie Coyle and John Gallagher put the Mitchels into a 0-9 to 0-4 lead at half time.
The second half started in a similar manner to the first, but an early palmed goal from Stephen Campbell gave the home side some breathing room. Further points from John Bingham, Trevor Matthews and two from John Gallagher and Stephen Campbell saw out the win while the Mitchels defence limited Cuchulainn Gaels to just three points in the second half.
Andrew Bingham led the way in the full back line alongside Aaron Kane, Alan Mackin and Liam Devitt when introduced.

NH MALACHI 1-12 ST NICHOLAS 0-11
A crucial game in the battle for second place in Division 3B went the way of Naomh Malachi as they overcame St Nicholas in Drogheda.
The hosts needed victory to draw level with the Mals, but the Courtbane men made the trip home with a 1-12 to 0-11 win.
As expected, there wasn’t much between the teams at any stage, but the crucial score came from Paudie McLoughlin who scored the only goal to help his side lead by 1-7 to 0-6 at the break.
The Nicks battled throughout the second half with Paudi Downey leading the charge as he finished with seven points, but a missed penalty on 50 minutes proved vital.
Con Sheehan and Philip Kirwan were also on target, but scores on the night from Jason Clarke and Jamie Kelly helped get the Mals over the line in the end.
WESTERNS 2-14 DOWDALLSHILL 1-12
Westerns recorded their fifth win of the campaign when they defeated Dowdallshill by 2-14 to 1-12 at St Brigid’s Park.
Two first half goals from Matthew Kane provided the platform for the Westerns as they led by 2-7 to 0-6 at the break.
The Hill came more into the game in the second half and a goal from Gerry McShane gave them hope as they cut the gap to two points.
However, on a night when Patrick Kerley and Emmet Smith were in good scoring form, the Westerns regained the initiative and pulled clear in the end. Niall McManus and Luke O’Brien added points for the Hill.
SEAN MCDERMOTTS 3-14 ANNAGHMINNON ROVERS 2-10
Marty Duffy inspired Sean McDermotts to victory over Annaghminnon Rovers as his side recorded a 3-14 to 2-10 win at Mountrush.
Duffy finished with 2-6 on the night, with both goals coming in the opening period. Stefan Halpenny added another three-pointer as the Seans went in at the break with a comfortable 3-8 to 0-2 lead.
The second half saw Annaghminnon come storming back and they grabbed two goals through Conor Russell and Shane Grimes to give themselves hope.
However, the McDermotts weren’t going to let the game slip from their grasp and held out for the win with the help of scores from Niall Babington and Kevin McMahon.
Dwayne Markey and Rory Phelan provided the bulk of the points for Annaghminnon on the night.
