Learner driver stopped by Dundalk gardai fails drugs test and has no insurance

Dundalk Roads Policing unit were on patrol on the N33 in Ardee last week in an unmarked vehicle when they say they observed the driver of this car overtaking cars on a bend driving head on with traffic travelling in opposite direction who had to take avoiding action.

Gardai say the driver was stopped with the assistance of Drogheda RPU and it was discovered they were a learner permit holder, unaccompanied and had no insurance.

They say that the driver also failed roadside drug test.

The car was seized and the driver was arrested and later charged with a number of offences.
