Decision to permit Point Road apartments appealed to An Bord Pleanála

Louth County Council had granted conditional planning permission for the development

The decision by Louth County Council to grant planning permission for a development at the Point Road in Dundalk that would see the construction of six new apartments has been appealed to An Bord Pleanála.

Louth County Council granted conditional planning permission to Clovelly Developments Limited in July for the development at 64 and 66 Point Road, Dundalk that would see the demolition of an existing two storey building, comprising retail unit at ground floor level and habitable living accommodation over same, as well as an adjoining single storey derelict dwelling house and its outbuildings.

The application sought permission to construct a three storey residential building, comprising a one bed, and a two bed apartment at ground floor level, as well as three, two bed duplex apartments at first and second floor level. It also sought to construct a single storey residential building comprising two, one bed apartments at the rear of the site.

Following a request for further information on the development by the local planning authority, which was then received in June, that included amendments to the proposed design including the omission of one residential unit and elevational changes to the apartment block at the front of the site, conditional planning permission was granted.

A third party appeal against the decision to grant planning permission has been made to An Bord Pleanála by David Bastible and by Padraic and Sandra Callan. The case is due to be decided by 12 December 2023.
