Barney O'Hare, sponsor, presenting the Bar One Irish Sprint Cup trophy to the winning connections of Carrick Aldo
Winning trainer Westmeath’s David Murray scooped up the impressive Carrick Aldo after he raced home to claim victory in the Bar One Racing Irish Sprint Cup on Tuesday evening.
The trap 5 hound claimed an early lead and kept up this advantage to win the top prize with a 2-and-three-quarter length distance and the fastest time yet of 20.80. A time not seen in the prestigious race in 20 years.
The classic race was the feature race of an action-packed day in Dowdallshill. Racegoers were entertained with an afternoon of superb horse racing and an evening of top-class greyhound racing.
With a kid’s entertainment area throughout the day and the Kacey D band playing in between sports, there was certainly something for everyone. The dual race day was kindly sponsored by Bookmaker Bar One Racing.
“We were so thrilled to open our doors once again for the Bar One Racing Dual Raceday & Family Funday" stated Lisa O’Connor, Sales & Marketing Manager at the track.
"We are proud to be the only Irish venue that can host top class horse and greyhound racing in the one day.
"Bar One Racing have been such a wonderful supporter of the Stadium, in fact next year will see the 20th year of the partnership of the Irish Sprint Cup Final. A huge thank you must go to Barney O’Hare & his team for their support, and we look forward to continuing the partnership into the future.”
Dundalk Stadium is Ireland’s only dual racecourse, with greyhound racing every Friday & Saturday evening. Their renowned Friday Night Lights, horse racing under the floodlights, returns 22nd of September, with weekly horse racing fixtures & greyhound racing being run immediately after the last horse race.
With a panoramic view restaurant overlooking both racetracks, bars on all three floors and a range of food options there is something for everyone at the family friendly venue.
