Plans lodged for 502 new homes just outside Dundalk

Large-scale Residential Development in planning

Plans are underway for a Large-scale Residential Development (LRD) of 502 new homes just outside Dundalk.

Marina Quarter Limited has applied to Louth County Council for planning permission to construct the homes on lands at Haggardstown, Blackrock, Dundalk.

According to the planning application Marina Quarter Limited is seeking to build 502 residential units ranging in height from one storey to three storeys.

The proposed new dwellings comprise 26 four-bedroom semi-detached houses; 210 three-bedroom terraced houses & semi-detached houses, some of which include garden sheds; one three-bedroom bungalow; 214 two-bedroom houses; and 52 one-bedroom maisonettes.

The applicant is also seeking planning permission for a two-storey crèche with associated external play area and for the provision of public open space totalling c.4.69 ha, of which c.3.09 ha comprises strategic amenity space, and private open space in the form of private garden areas serving the houses, bungalow, & maisonettes.

The application also provides for vehicular, cyclist & pedestrian access/egress & associated circulation routes, including the construction of new dedicated entrance to the R172 Blackrock Road, with a southbound right hand turning lane and a new northbound bus stop, as well as two new pedestrian access points routes to Bóthar Maol, and one new pedestrian and cycle path access point along the north eastern boundary to Bóthar Maol.

A decision is due on the application by 26 October, with submissions due by 5 October.
