A new local chapter of remote working group "Grow Remote" is to be launched in mid-Louth this September. Grow Remote is a social and networking organisation for remote and hybrid workers.

Local Councillor John Sheridan is organising the launch. He told the Dundalk Democrat that, "we're very excited to be launching a local chapter of Grow Remote. We know from the census a quarter of Louth workers are working from home at least one day per week. Grow Remote is about providing a personal network for remote and hybrid workers in the area.

"The launch takes place in Market House, Dunleer on Friday September 15 between 12.30pm and 2pm. Any remote or hybrid workers are welcome to come along for tea/coffee, food and have a chat. We have a social night organised for Thursday September 28 from 6.30pm in Shearmans Dunleer."

Explaining the benefits Grow Remote can offer to people who are working remotely, Cllr Sheridan said that "while remote working has changed areas like Mid-Louth so much, there can be a slight element of loneliness to it, so this group is about providing social and networking opportunities to remote workers.

"The organisation primarily tries to allow networking of remote and hybrid workers, but also provides avenues to training and also seeks to provide recruitment opportunities for those looking to work remotely in an area."

The Fianna Fáil councillor added, "there is already a chapter in Dundalk and I met them as part of the run up to this launch. All are welcome to either event in September. We just ask that they register in advance on www.growremote.ie
