Dundalk has seen a fall in the number of people signing on the Live Register according to figures released today by the Central Statistics Office.
3,630 signed on the Live Register in August, a fall of 100 on the 3,730 who signed on in July. It is also down 185 or 4.8% on the 3,815 who signed on in Dundalk in August 2022.
The fall in the numbers signing on was repeated across the county in August. In Ardee, the Live Register number fell by 88 in August to 785, a monthly fall of 10.1%. On an annual basis, it is down 90 people or 10.3% on August 2022.
In Drogheda 3,500 people signed on in August 2023, down 173 or 4.7% on July, and down 203 or 5.5% on August 2022.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted Live Register total for August 2023 was 175,900 people, down by 7,000 or 3.8% from July 2023. The unadjusted Live Register total stood at 186,396 people for August 2023.
There were 23,392 people benefitting from the EU's Temporary Protection Directive included in the Live Register figures for August 2023, an increase of 115 people from July 2023.
