Woman found stranger asleep in her home, Dundalk court heard

Dundalk District Court has heard how a woman contacted Gardaí after she found a stranger asleep in a bed at her home.

Judge Ciaran Liddy was told that the 36 year old was on a stag night and was later arrested for public order offences.

Alan Carr with an address at Clann Chulainn Park, Farndreg, Dundalk was charged with trespass at Bachelors walk on July 26th last and with being intoxicated in a public place and failing to provide his name and address to gardai at Hoey's Lane the next day.

Court presenter Sgt. Laura Blanch outlined how gardaí had received a report shortly after midnight of a man asleep in the woman's home and was refusing to leave.

When they arrived she told them he was not known to her and he was found asleep in a downstairs bedroom.

Mr. Carr explained that he had been attending a Stag party and had too much alcohol to drink.

He added he vaguely remembered what happened and while he had been unable to contact the garda from the first incident, he had made an apology to the second garda.

He added there was a party in the house, where he had been found.

The court heard shortly after 9am the defendant was seen to stumble and fall and hit his head off the footpath at Hoey's Lane but refused to be treated by paramedics.

Judge Ciaran Liddy applied the Probation Act in both cases.
