Dundalk based business Irish Whiskey Auctions has announced that it is to celebrate five years in existence this year, with a very special event that is hoped to raise over €50,000 for its chosen charities.

Irish Whiskey Auctions is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its inaugural auction, which took place on 12 October 2018. The business has grown from 150 lots in October 2018 to 1726 in March 2023, and from two staff members at the beginning to nine this year.

During this five years, the business has raised over €150,000 for charity, has broken world records for the highest prices achieved for Irish whiskey at auction, has auctioned over 50,000 lots and gained over 10,000 clients, and rising.

Anthony and Katie Sheehy’s idea was to create a secondary market for their beloved Irish Whiskey for whiskey fans all over the world.

It was timely, necessary, and hugely welcomed in the five years since the inception of the online auction platform, Irish Whiskey Auctions, growing to become the world’s leading platform for the auctioning of all things Irish Whiskey.

The business has diversified in recent times with the creation of The Whiskey Hub, a complete whiskey solutions center that includes sister companies such as Irish Whiskey Experiences, Whiskey Brokerage, Whiskey Investment, Whiskey Storage, whiskey shipping fulfillment- to name but a few of the many and growing facets to this international business.

Anthony and Katie say they feel it is “only right to mark the five years of this passion project for all concerned and do something that is very close to our hearts.

“We have always held charity work high on our priorities list,  so we thought what better way to celebrate our fifth birthday than to collaborate with five different brands to auction 1000 bottles for charity.”

This special Charity Auction begins at 5 pm on Wednesday 27 September, lasting 5 days until Sunday 1 October at 7 pm.
There will be 996 lots available including 200 bottles from each of the supporting brands including Dingle, Dunville’s, Two Stacks, Killowen Distillery, and the first-ever release from the Sheehy’s Single Cask Collection.

Each bottle will be sold as an individual lot with only the bottle No. 1’s of each release combined into a single highly sought-after set. All bidding will start at €50 with anything above this being donated to the chosen charities.

Those who are already registered with Irish Whiskey Auctions can bid in the charity auction, for those who are not already members and wish to join, can join here.

Anthony and Katie say they have many celebratory nights planned, one in J.J. Sheehy’s Public House- another recent acquisition, and more planned in venues to be announced shortly.

The two say that their passionate experienced team are on hand “to face a bright future in the whiskey industry” adding that they are “so appreciative of the many clients we have welcomed into our vibrant whiskey community”.
