Boots in Dundalk commences Winter Flu and COVID-19 vaccination services

Boots has announced that the Winter Flu and COVID-19 Vaccination Services have commenced for the winter season. Eligible customers have the option to book an appointment to get a flu and COVID-19 vaccination together at the same appointment. 

This year, Boots pharmacies nationwide will offer the following services:

• Winter Flu Vaccination Service for children (nasal vaccine for those eligible aged 2-12 years and in an at-risk group where 13-17 years) and adults
• COVID-19 Booster Vaccination Service for children and adults aged 12 years and above
• Winter Flu and COVID-19 Vaccination Service for adults aged 18 years and above - subject to eligibility and availability. Charges may apply. 

To avail of a vaccination, customers will need to be eligible for the vaccine with no clinical contradictions. 

The flu vaccination service at Boots begins from late September and will be free of charge for persons for whom vaccination is recommended by the HSE, such as those over the age of 65, children 2-12 years or anyone over the age of 18 within at-risk groups, otherwise there is a charge of €35.

There is no charge for COVID-19 vaccinations. The HSE recommend an Autumn booster or extra COVID-19 vaccination dose as part of the Autumn Programme. This is available in pharmacies for the recommended groups such as those aged 50 or older, if aged 12 to 49 with a condition that puts you at high risk of serious illness from COVID-19 and healthcare workers.

There is some key information to read to ensure the service is suitable for you, complete the pre-consultation form for the service that you or your child wish to avail of and book an appointment for a time that suits you. 

Commenting at the launch of the service, Caoimhe McAuley, Director of Pharmacy and Superintendent Pharmacist at Boots said, “We are delighted to be able to offer our customers vaccinations against both flu and COVID-19 this winter season.

"We have stores throughout the country offering both the flu and COVID-19 booster vaccinations with our specially trained pharmacists on hand to offer advice. We are aware that many viruses are easily transmitted in winter but also know that vaccinations can help protect us from infection and should in turn reduce the spread within the community.

"Protect yourself and those around you by using our online booking system for your appointment, which will help you to get your vaccinations at a time and location that suits you, and in turn reduce the time taken to get the vaccination in store”.
