Call for viglilance after an attempted break in at an elderly woman's Louth home

Sinn Féin Councillor Pearse McGeough has called for vigilance after an attempted break in at the home of a senior citizen in Kilsaran was foiled.

Cllr McGeough said: “The lady was at home and luckily her son happened to be there when they heard someone attempting to enter the house from the back.

"The lady’s son ran to the back door and seen two men wearing balaclavas who ran off, obviously expecting the lady to either not be at home or to be at home alone.”

With the darker evenings drawing in Cllr McGeough has called for people to be vigilant and to keep an eye on your neighbours especially if they are older and vulnerable.

“This lady has been left shaken after a very frightening experience and it could have been a lot worse," Cllr McGeough continued.

"This was not an isolated area and the use of balaclavas is sinister.

“Gardaí are investigating and hopefully these men will be apprehended and face due process.”

If you saw anything unusual around the Kilsaran/Castlebellingham area on Thursday 28th September between 7pm – 7.30pm or if you have any information please contact Gardaí.
