Roche Emmets booked their place in the quarter final of the Leinster Intermediate Championship thanks to the comfortable victory over Offaly’s Ballycommon on Saturday afternoon.
On the day, the Louth champions had just too much quality for the visitors and were rarely troubled before emerging with an 18-point victory.
The Offaly men only had a week to recover from their county success and that certainly didn’t help their cause as they failed to make any impression at all on the game.
On the other hand, Roche looked hungry and focused as they took a grip of the game from the early stages.
With Liam Dawe and Barry O’Hare in good scoring form, the Faughart men raced into a 0-5 to no score lead after 12 minutes.
The visitors never looked capable of mounting any real challenge and although they did get off the mark, they were facing an uphill task at the break as they trailed by 0-11 to 0-1.
Roche continued to dominate the second period and in a game where Mark Byrne, Shane Byrne and DD Reilly were also on target, they sealed victory with a goal from Barry O’Hare in the closing stages.
On Saturday week, Roche will take on the winners of the Dublin Junior Final with that game taking place on Wednesday night.
ROCHE EMMETS: Jamie O’Hare; Adam McKay, David Quigley, Aidan Grant; James McDonnell, Peter Lynch, Gerry Browne; Glen Stewart, Daniel O’Connell 0-1; Sean Dawe, Liam Dawe 0-6, Mark Byrne 0-2; DD Reilly 0-1, Shane Byrne 0-4, Barry O’Hare 1-4.
Subs: Dermot Carthy, Martin Carroll, Liam Carthy, Harry O’Connell, Daire Reilly.
