There has been a fall in the number of people signing on the Live Register across Louth according to figures released today by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
In Dundalk, 3,383 people signed on the Live Register in October. This is down 71 on September and also down 170 on the 3,553 people who signed on in Dundalk in October 2022.
In Ardee, 751 people signed on in October. This is up 12 on September, but it is down 47 on the 798 who signed on in Ardee in October of last year.
Drogheda also saw both a monthly and annual decrease with 3,250 people signing on in October.
It is down 55 on the 3,305 who signed on in September and down 13 from the 3,263 who signed on in Drogheda in October 2022.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted Live Register total for October 2023 was 175,500 people, down by 3,300 or 1.8% from September 2023.
The unadjusted Live Register total stood at 169,933 people for October 2023. Of the 169,933 people on the unadjusted Live Register in September 2023, 54.6% were male and 69.0% were Irish.
The 35-44 age group made up the largest number of those on the Live Register in October 2023 at 40,060 people or 23.6%.
There were 108,719 people on the Live Register for less than one year, which represents just under two-thirds of the total number on the Live Register.
