Louth priest in update to parishioners as he tests positive for Covid-19

A local Louth parish priest has posted an update to parishioners on social media after testing positive for Covid-19.

Fr Damien Quigley in Dunleer Parish posted a message to Facebook after getting the positive test and advised on a number of changes to the schedule for services this week.

He wrote: "Unfortunately I've tested positive for Covid this morning [Monday]. Symptoms are so far mild though I do have to self-isolate for a number of days.

"The schedule of liturgies in St. Brigid's for the next few days is as follows:

Tuesday - Celebration of a Liturgy of the Word (10am)
Tuesday - Funeral Mass for Mr. Stephen Lawless (11am)
Wednesday - Celebration of a Liturgy of the Word (10am)
Thursday - Celebration of a Liturgy of the Word (10am)
Friday - Celebration of Holy Mass (10am)

"Distribution of Holy Communion will not take place at the liturgies on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (except for the funeral Mass). It will resume as part of Mass on Friday.

"Mass intentions for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be moved to another day," he added.

He said updates regarding the weekend will be shared as soon as possible.

"Thank you for your understanding at this time," he concluded.

A number of locals were quick to offer their well wishes with one telling him to "rest up and get well soon."
