The lecture takes place at the Louth County Museum in Dundalk
The Old Dundalk Society says it is delighted to announce the third lecture in its winter series. The lecture takes place on 6 December at 7.30 pm at the Louth County Museum, Jocelyn Street, Dundalk.
The lecture tells the story of the two famous trophies, the Sam Maguire Cup for Gaelic football, and the Liam MacCarthy Cup for hurling.
Who were these men? The two famous cups are named after two London men. The most well-known, yet unknown men in Irish history were both heavily involved in the London GAA.
The lecture will be presented by Marcus Howard. Marcus is a historian and independent documentary film maker who has presented history lectures and documentary screenings in London, Chicago, Galway, and Dublin.
Hailing from Dundalk, Marcus is a co-ordinator of Marketing and Social Media Management in O'Fiaich Institute of Further Education Dundalk. This talk shedding new light on Liam MacCarthy and Sam Maguire was delivered to a sold-out audience in The Mansion House recently. Note earlier time of lecture 7.30pm
Patrons are advised to come early as there is limited seating capacity available in the venue. Refreshments served after lecture. Voluntary contribution at door.
