Dundalk's David Keenan to sing at Shane McGowan's funeral

Dundalk's own David Keenan is to perform at the funeral of Shane McGowan, which takes place on Friday.

The Dundalk artist confirmed on Instagram yesterday, that he had to move a gig in Cork a week back, as he was asked to sing at the funeral.

Shane McGowan died peacefully, on Thursday 30 November, 2023, with his wife Victoria and family by his side. His funeral is to take place at St. Marys of the Rosary Church, Nenagh, on Friday, with his Requiem Mass at 3:30 pm and a private Cremation is to follow. 

Ahead of this, the funeral cortege will pass through the streets of Dublin on Friday. A horse-drawn carriage is to be led by the Artane Band and a piper and will travel through Ringsend and Pearse Street.

The procession will begin at St Lotts road at approximately 11am. It will go across MacMahon Bridge and then onto Pearse Street. It will reach as far as the junction at Lomdard Street East and then turns onto Westland Row, onto Fenian Street and will conclude at Denzille Lane at approximately 11.45am.
