Two gardaí injured on street in Dundalk as investigation is launched

Two off-duty gardaí were reportedly injured in a shocking incident of assault in Dundalk earlier this week.

The Irish Mirror reported that the two gardaí may have been followed leaving a pub in the town in the early hours of Monday morning.

One sustained a broken nose while the other sustained less severe facial injuries, the paper reports.

In a statement to the Dundalk Democrat, a Garda spokesperson confirmed: "Gardaí are investigating an assault that occurred on Anne Street, Dundalk, Co. Louth shortly after 1am on Monday 11th December 2023."

They say investigations are ongoing.
