Condolences are pouring in for a young woman who tragically died in a crash during Storm Isha.

Kate Keenan of Knockbridge, Co Louth died when the van she was travelling in as a passenger collided with a tree in Carnalogue in the early hours of Monday morning (January 22).

A second passenger, a man in his 20s, was reportedly treated at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Kate was the beloved daughter of Wayne and Cathy, sister of Rachel and Ross, granddaughter of Eleanor and the late Barney Keenan and Brian, and the late Angela Gregory. She was also the godmother of Brandon.

She will be missed by her heartbroken parents, sister, brother, grandparents, uncles, aunts, godchild, cousins, relatives and friends.

Some of the hundreds of condolences posted on RIP.ie:

You were there for me when I needed a friend, popped down to my house when I was going through a hard time, kept me company so many times. You were one of a kind, an absolute gem. Please look over your family and give them the strength to get through this. Love always."

"I am so so sorry for the loss of your beautiful daughter, sister and friend to so many, such a beautiful girl to be taken from you so very young. It would be a family's worst nightmare to receive news like that. I will say a prayer for you all, and remember Kate will be flying high with the angels above watching and looking out for you all.. May her gentle soul rest in peace and may God give you all the strength to cope with such utter heartache."
