The community of Drogheda is grieving the loss of their beloved resident, Patsy Carroll, who peacefully passed away at the age of 91 on February 12, 2024, at Sunhill Nursing Home in Termonfeckin.

Patsy, a longtime resident of St Joseph’s Terrace, Mell, was born to James and Catherine Carroll and predeceased by his father, mother, brother Jimmy, and sisters Peggy, Marie, Dolores, and Ailish.

His departure has left a void in the hearts of many, but he will be remembered with love and as a man who always "had a word and a story for everyone."

One tribute came from a neighbor of the Carroll family, expressing deepest condolences and reminiscing about Patsy's decades-long presence in Mell: "Patsy was a neighbour of our family for over 50 years in Mell and was a great drinking buddy with my father Johnny Kerr back in the day. He was a very nice man who always had time for a chat. Patsy will be dearly missed. May he rest in peace."

Another tribute highlighted the warmth and care Patsy received from his siblings: "Lovely memories of Patsy sitting out in the sun in the summertime. Carrie, you were extremely good to your brother Patsy all through the years. May he rest in peace."

A former colleague remembered Patsy's time working at Carrolls of Killineer and the joy of reconnecting just weeks ago. "Sincere condolences to Carrie and Bernard and all the Carroll Family on the sad passing of Patsy. I met Patsy many years ago when he worked in Carrolls of Killineer. I recently visited him in Sunhill only a few weeks ago. It was wonderful to meet up with him again. He was a lovely gentle man, honest and caring, so friendly and loved talking about old times. May he have eternal rest."

Lastly, a friend reflected on the camaraderie shared with Patsy: "Sincere condolences to Carrie and Carroll family on Patsy’s passing. I have many happy memories of sharing Patsy’s company, be it at Louth matches in the '70s or over a pint in Gleesons."

Patsy is survived by his sister Carrie, brother Bernard, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, and a wide circle of relatives and friends. His impact on the community is evident in the outpouring of condolences and support from those who knew him.

The Carroll family invites friends and well-wishers to pay their respects at Townley’s Funeral Home, Crosslanes, Drogheda (A92 XN75) on Tuesday evening from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral Mass in memory of Patsy will take place on Wednesday morning at 11:30am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, with live streaming available at www.saintpetersdrogheda.ie, before he is laid in his final resting place at St Peter’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that mourners contribute to the Condolence section on RIP.ie with personal messages of sympathy.
