Louth County Council is to make necessary repairs to the surface of the Multi Use Game Area (MUGA) at Aisling Park in Dundalk as well as carry out maintenance to the perimeter fence, councillors were informed at the Dundalk Municipal District February meeting.
Cllr Seán Kelly's motion at the meeting, called on the local authority to “look at all funding avenues for the upgrade and ongoing maintenance of the astro turf pitch at Aisling Park playground.
“That proper signage and lighting is installed to ensure maximum usage by local residents and that the Council will undertake to secure the pitch at night time to avoid anti-social behaviour.
Replying to Cllr Kelly, Director of Placemaking & Physical Development, Mr David Jones, said that “funding avenues for the upgrade of the MUGA at Aisling Park will be examined, as funding opportunities arise”. Mr Jones added that in the interim, the necessary repairs would be carried out as well as maintenance.
