Dundalk Dog Rescue receive a grant of €1,000

Dundalk Dog Rescue has been announced as the winner of Movement for Good’s first draw for 2024 and will be receiving a donation of €1,000 as part of the Ecclesiastical Insurance and Benefact Group’s Movement for Good Awards.

Dundalk Dog Rescue is an entirely voluntary non-profit organisation set up in 2005 to rehabilitate and re-home dogs who are on their last chance.

This organisation is committed to promoting responsible dog ownership and advocate for microchipping, vaccination and appropriate care for animals. 

Dundalk Dog Rescue has benefitted from this grant before in previous years and continues to do incredible work in the community.

Celebrating their win, Edel Nolan, Secretary at Dundalk Dog Rescue said: “We are going to put the funds to very good use and they couldn't have come at a better time.

"We will use the funds to upgrade our outdoor play areas.

"With all the rain over the last few months our five play areas have turned into mud baths and are unusable.

"We are going to spend the money resurfacing two of the five play areas to make them all weather areas, so the dogs will always have a place to run and play off lead regardless of the weather!”

In its sixth year, the Movement for Good Awards opened its doors for nominations last month, providing an opportunity for charities to receive a €1,000 boost.

This initiative, having already donated over €5 million since its inception in 2019, is committed to making a positive impact by supporting a diverse range of causes.

"This is an excellent start to our 2024 Movement for Good campaign; Ecclesiastical Insurance is very proud in how this campaign supports charity and volunteer organisations all around the country in delivering key community services, and we hope to see more nominations from charities across Ireland."

In 2023, Ecclesiastical provided support to various Irish-based organisations, ranging from smaller and volunteer led organisations like Bat Rehabilitation Ireland, Shannon's Hopeline, Meals on Wheels Tralee and Drogheda Animal Rescue, to larger charities and non-for-profit organisations such as Jigsaw, Irish Girl Guides, Kids' Own Publishing Partnership and Irish Baroque Orchestra. The 2024 campaign will consist of further draws looking support organisations around the island.

In addition to the €1,000 grants, special draws will allocate €5,000 to charities within specific sectors. 

The Animals & Wildlife Special draw is currently open with nominations accepted until midnight on Friday, 23 February.
