Dundalk's An Tain set to hold range of events this June

Pat Kinevane is bringing his two plays Silent and King to An Táin Arts Centre on 12th and 13th June.

Silent and King

Experience two nights of thought-provoking theatre from one of Ireland’s most inspiring theatre-makers at An Táin Arts Centre this June. A huge player in Irish theatre, film, TV and radio, Pat Kinevane brings two of his renowned plays, Silent (2011), and his newest work, King (2023) to An Táin Arts Centre on 12th and 13th June.

The multi award winning Silent is the touching and challenging story of homeless McGoldrig, who once had splendid things. But he has lost it all - including his mind. Dare to laugh at despair and gasp at redemption in this brave, bleak, beautiful production for which Fishamble and Pat Kinevane won an Olivier Award in 2016.

King tells the story of Luther, a man from Cork named in honour of his Granny Bee Baw’s hero, Martin Luther King Jr. Luther is troubled but mischievous, lonely but hopeful. While he prepares for a big night out as an Elvis impersonator, he reflects on his past and dares to dream of the future…maybe even of romance. Soon Luther’s evening unfurls into a mad tango between memory and longing.

Director of An Táin Arts Centre, Paul Hayes, expresses his excitement, stating, "We are thrilled to present these two exceptional shows of top-tier theatre by the talented Pat Kinevane and Fishamble at An Táin Arts Centre. I first saw ‘Silent’ about 15 years ago in Galway and it is one of the plays that has never left me. To also have King coming to Dundalk is a real treat.”

Silent is on 12th June at 8pm and King is on 13th June at 8pm. Tickets for each show are €20 / €18 concession (plus €1.50 booking fee per ticket) There is a Theatre Lovers Offer for both plays €32/€28 concession (plus €1.50 booking fee per ticket). Tickets can be purchased from An Táin Arts Centre’s Box Office on Crowe Street, over the phone on 042 9332332 or online at www.antain.ie
