Cllr Butler was deemed elected after the 11th count, just before 4.30 in the early hours of Monday morning. In comments to the Dundalk Democrat after the election, Cllr Butler said:

“I am delighted to have been elected for another term on Louth County Council. I really want to thank the people of Dundalk South for putting their faith in me to represent them on Louth County Council for the next five years.

“I really want to thank everyone for their support, for their courtesy and goodwill during the campaign.”

The Green Party councillor continued, “ It was great to have so many positive interactions and I have a job of work to do getting back to many with queries, that starts today!

“I also wish to thank my team, nobody gets elected on their own.” Cllr Butler added, “I really want to thank my family, friends and canvassers for their unwavering support and patience during the campaign.”
