Work being carried out to repair burst pipe in Drogheda

Uisce Éireann is working to restore water supply to customers in parts of Drogheda following a burst water main this morning.

Every effort is being made to maintain water supply to as many customers as possible, but the burst, which occurred at 6:30am this morning, is impacting some customers in Tredagh View, Tredagh Close, Tredagh Crescent, Marley Court, Beach Wood areas, an Uisce Éireann spokesperson said.

In addition customers to the north of the town may also experience interruption to supply while the burst is being repaired.

Crews are on the ground isolating a large diameter trunk main so the repairs can commence.

"Because of the complexity of this burst, at this time we do not have an estimated time that the repair will be completed. However, we will issue further updates as the works progress", the spokesperson continued.

As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes.

Uisce Éireann’s James O’Hagan said: “The repairs are being conducted as quickly and as efficiently as possible to minimise disruption and restore the water supply to homes and businesses.

"We understand the inconvenience an unplanned outage can have on our customers and appreciate their patience as we work to return normal water supply as quickly as possible.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from the compnay for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Uisce Éireann said it continues to provide detailed, real-time, and local information about water service and supply issues on www.water.ie.

The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on X @IWCare with any queries.
