Local Councillor Antóin Watters has given an update on major roadworks being carried out across villages and towns in north Louth.
The Sinn Féin Councillor for Dundalk and Carlingford shared a video collage online of some of the roads around the communities between Jenkinstown and Edentober, many of which have recently been retarmacked.
Work is expected to continue over the coming weeks on many of these busy local roads.
Many of the roads and bridges in north Louth were severely damaged by unprecedented flooding last November, with Edentubber, Jenkinstown, Ravensdale and Ballymakellet practically cut off from Dundalk due to major damage on the roads.
"Some of the most scenic roads in the County, Edentubber, Jenkinstown, Ballymakellett and Omeath, have seen resurfacing works started," Watters said in a post on Facebook.
"Appreciating the views while checking up on their progress. Works will continue over the coming weeks on the remaining roads."
Speaking on the damage caused by flooding, Watters added: "Hard to believe the damage that was done 10 months ago, it’s been a long road (pardon the pun) but getting there".
Watters had proposed work to tackle the flood damage back in November, saying shortly after the flooding that the council had to move to prioritise opening the roads and fixing the bridges "to get the infrastructure open again".
