Irish Freedom Party PresidentHermannKelly has announced he will contest the next General Election in the Louth constituency.
Hermannhas strong connections in the county having lived before in Drogheda and Mid-Louth for over 20 years.
Hermannhelped organise and spoke at the protest last year against the closure of the D Hotel and opposed its conversion to an IPAS centre. The protest attracted hundreds of people from the Drogheda area.
HermannKellyand the Irish Freedom Party have been extremely vocal in its opposition to the Government's asylum and immigration policy.
He said he also wants to focus on solving the huge dereliction problem in major towns like Dundalk and Drogheda.
He continued that other priorities include making Louth a prime tourist destination and attracting new investment and jobs into the county.
Kellyhas advocated for a fiscal culture of lower taxes for Irish workers and higher taxes on vulture funds and REITS to put them out of the market to allow first time buyers to get on the housing market.
He said: "I'm also in favour of hiring more Gardai to deal with the increasing problem of anti-social behaviour and crime in Co Louth."
Mr.Kellyhas also spoken out against the proposed wind farm in Kellystown, near Monasterboice, saying: "Wind farms in general are expensive, taxpayer - subsidised, built using tonnes of steel and concrete and extremely ugly, particularly unsuitable in a beautiful area of historical significance, such as Monasterboice.
"They have caused at least five recorded large scale bog slides in Ireland in the last few years thus causing a lot of ecological damage.
"On top of this, because the source of energy is intermittent wind, there is a need for full time back-up energy from oil, gas or other power sourced from France."
"The Irish Freedom Party believes strongly in a clean and green Ireland but not one covered in noisy, ugly, expensive and inefficient wind turbines.
"It's time we reopened the Midland power stations, and restarted oil and gas exploration off our coast.
"The proposal is forfive wind turbines, each 180 m high in an area of High Scenic Quality.''
