Dundalk band Pork Pie launch their second album in the Spirit Store tonight

Psyche-garage outfit Pork Pie are set to launch their second album Golden Leaf Sheets in the Spirit Store tonight, Friday September 13th

The four-piece contemporary alternative eclectic rock outfit recorded their debut album "Pterodactyl," in 2021, receiving rave reviews.

Since then, Pork Pie has been in the studio recording and is back with a new album, called Golden Leaf Sheets, which was released last Friday.

The Dundalk band are set to officially launch their new album in the Spirit Store this Friday, September 13th with support from punk poet Jinx Lennon and up and coming rockers Osiris.

With four singles initially released from their eagerly awaited second album Golden Leaf Sheets,
The band continues to grow their musical vocabulary adding extra instruments building layers to the eclectic onion that is Pork Pie.

This is a good old garage rock/blues but with brass and Hammond to take the punk edge off the sonic drive. Still the sound harks back to a time when guitar and dance music met on the same plane, with epic psychedelic guitar, moody organ, grooving bass and a fantastic funky drumming designed to fill the dance floor.

The album kicks in with high octane songs that blast through the first half of the release before taking a musical detour de force into a more colourful yet just as aggressive  psychedelia ending with the epic song of Cabin Fever.

Pork Pie's second album was recorded in Dundalk's Lockup Recording Studio in 2023, engineered by Pete Rust and Mastered by Fergal Davis

The four-piece is a contemporary alternative eclectic rock outfit, with strong elements of garage, indie groove and psychedelia, who play almost exclusively original songs. 

The four original members, Shane Brett (Drums), Michael Laverty (Bass), Michael Stafford (Vocals, lyrics,Piano, Guitar and Alto  Sax), and Peter Laverty (Lead Guitar), have gigged extensively and played multiple festivals and leading music venues in Europe, including the Spirit Store in Ireland, The Paradiso in Amsterdam, Kapu (Culture Centre) Linz, and The Dublin Castle in London.

In October 2021, the band was sponsored by the Irish Government (Department of Arts & Culture) to play an exclusive online gig at the famous Great Northern Brewery in Ireland, which was released to rave reviews in the music press.

Tickets for Pork Pie supported by Jinx Lennon and Osiris in the Spirit Store on Friday, September 13th are €10 + €1.50 booking fee and are available on www.spirtstore.ie or at the door on the night. Doors open at 8pm.
