The Dundalk Ukulele Strummers will be performing in town tomorrow to raise money for Darragh Brangan who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) over a year ago when he was just 18 months old.

DMD is a degenerative muscle wasting condition and Darragh's parents Zoe and Gordon want to prepare for the future to give their little boy the best chance in life and part of that is creating a home where he is happy, comfortable and most importantly a space that he can get around in with ease like his two sisters, Ellie and Katie.

Darragh’s granny Ann is a member of the Dundalk Ukulele Strummers and they have organised the fundraising event to support Darragh.

The Dundalk Ukulele Strummers will be playing and singing tomorrow, Thursday 10th October from 12 noon for about an hour at the Market Square if the weather is good or in the Long Walk if it is raining.

All funds raised will go towards supporting Darragh

Zoë ran the Women's Mini Marathon in June to raise money for her son.

She said on their GoFundMe page at the time: “A little over a year ago, we were thrust into a world we wish we didn’t even know existed when our beautiful boy Darragh was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at the age of eighteen months.

We really didn’t see it coming, and our hearts have been broken in a way we didn’t know possible. DMD is a degenerative muscle wasting condition, and while we live in hope, presently there is no cure.

Darragh has severe muscle weakness which will progress, and as we watch our son achieve all his milestones a little later than most, we will likely have to watch as he loses them too.

With this in mind, we want to achieve some things over the next year, and that’s where we need your help. We want to create a home suitable for Darragh’s changing needs and give him a space where he is not limited by his surroundings.

A home that he can get around with ease and be just like his two sisters Ellie and Katie.”

The fundraising performance for Darragh by the Dundalk Ukulele Strummers will take place tomorrow, Thursday October 10th at 12 noon at the Square or in the Long Walk if it is raining. Please go along and support this very worthwhile cause.
