Toales Live Venue is delighted to welcome back to Dundalk the Cork-based band Digital, who recreate perfectly the sound and stage show of Joy Division, the unique British indie group that refined the external chaos of 1970s punk into a disquieting inner turmoil, with their prominent, melodic bass, distinct rhythmic and textured guitar and drums, with complex, literary lyrics and mediumistic live performances, becoming of one of the most influential post-punk bands of all time.
The last time the band played in Toales, everyone there was truly astounded by how close Digital sounded to Joy Division, because the band pay particular attention to the production techniques of Unknown Pleasures, Closer & Still producer, Martin Hannet.
Digital performs an energetic live show featuring iconic songs spanning the entire Joy Division catalog, capturing both the starkness and warmth of Joy Division.
Blasting out classics like Disorder, New Dawn Fades, Ceremony, Atmosphere and LWTUA, Digital will have you moving to She's Lost Control, rocking to Warsaw and singing along to Transmission...Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance to the radio.
Support on the night comes from Gorgeous Wrecks - the electro duo that make bright, retro, alt-guitar pop with electronic undertones.
Doors are at 8pm and admission is only €10. Tickets available at Eventbrite.
Sunday 13th October - Gakkattack Promotions present The Hoakers + Fat Rabbit + Rant - Admission €8 - Doors 6pm
Gakkattack Promotions specialise in putting on the best punk bands live and it doesn't get much better than Belfast three-piece The Hoakers, who are launching their brand new album "Finding The Beauty In Chaos" which will be on sale on vinyl on the night.
The band started life in 2012 as A.R.S.E, a punk covers band, comprising ex members of Belfast punk bands, Asylum, Re’bel and Stalag 17, Donal McCann on drums & vocals, Petesy Burns on bass & vocals and Marty Lenane on guitar & vocals.
After a few years playing all the old classics in bars and clubs on the local scene, in late 2019 the band decided to leave the covers behind, get back to their roots and start writing original material.
Drawing from their many and varied influences, they produce a driving sound that has been likened to a fusion of the many different styles of punk North of the ‘border’ - danceable and singalongable and with intelligent observant lyrics.... It's punk and new wave and modern and relevant and catchy and brilliant!!
Support on the night comes from Dundalk three-piece Fat Rabbit and Belfast's RantIt's a Sunday Session so doors open early, at 6pm and it's only €8 admission.
