he Castle Players set to perform hilarious comedy
Join the Castle Players for three nights of fun and laughter as they bring David Tristram’s hilarious comedy, The Extraordinary Revelations of Orca the Goldfish, to the Spirit Store in Dundalk.
Set in the town of Little Grimley, near the Welsh border, Henry and Alice Smith, along with their goldfish Orca, seem to live a perfectly normal life. However, all may not be as it seems.
By day, Henry Smith is a boring office worker. But by the rest of the day, he’s anything but boring.
He’s an accomplished actor, a celebrated sports star, a suave MI6 agent, and even President of the United States. Not to mention his cocktail parties are to die for. It’s just a pity it’s all in his head.
Alice Smith yearns for some passion in her life, anything to break up the monotony of life as a housewife.
Unfortunately, Alice is having trouble releasing her inhibitions, even in the confinement of her own imagination.
However, all that may be about to change when Michel, a French waiter, wanders into her daydreams and makes Alice an offer she doesn’t want to refuse.
Will Henry and Alice find their happiness or even come out of their fantasies long enough to find each other before they drift apart completely? Only Orca knows the full story, but he’s “no squealer”.
This fast paced, two-hander (three, if you include the goldfish) will keep the actors, Siobhan Rankin and Niall McCann, busy as they take on a multitude of characters and scenarios, slipping back and forth between fantasy and reality. Siobhan and Niall bring a wealth of acting experience between them having been involved in various productions over the years and they are both a joy to watch in this entertaining play.
This production of The Extraordinary Revelations of Orca the Goldfish is co-directed by Nigel Clinton and Pat McKenna.
They are ably assisted by Angela Hanna, Shane Kelly, Siobhan De Bhal, David McKenna and additional members of the Castle Players.
With special thanks to Derek Turner from the Spirit Store for his assistance with staging the production, and Niamh Flood from Priority Printing for her invaluable help with designing the poster.
The Extraordinary Revelations of Orca the Goldfish runs for three nights only at the Spirit Store from Tuesday 22nd of October until Thursday 24th at 8 p.m. Tickets cost €10.
Available from tickets@spiritstore.ie or to purchase on the door on the night.
No Goldfish (or humans) were harmed in the staging of this play.
