Winter is now in full swing and so is the Toales' Rock Bar and Live Venue lineup for the rest of the week.
Thursday November 7 - Fireside Sessions present Bedside Community + FOD - Free Admission, show starts 9pm
Toales' Fireside Sessions is an acoustic club that showcases the best in acoustic acts, always inside by the fire in the bar and always free admission.
This week, Fireside Sessions is very proud to welcome back Bedside Community's multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Roberto Tamburrini, a regular in Toales, with an eclectic mix of influences shaping his set of truly original songs.
From folk to post-punk, with hints of grunge, shoegaze and early 2000's indie, the sounds come together to form a moody melancholic form of indie Rock.
This fusion intertwines with honest, thought-provoking lyrics that tackle topics from mental health, grief, addiction, and the simple struggles of everyday modern life. Support on the night comes from local singer/songwriter Fod.
Friday November 8 - Alice Robinson New Album "Meat Hook" Launch Night - €10 - Doors 8pm
Unapologetically authentic and laced with a heavy taste of dark humour, Alice Robinson's brand new album "Meat Hook", captures this local singer/songwriter's sound perfectly alternative, unconventional and equal parts beautiful and horrifying; romantic and unnerving; vulnerable and fierce; innocent and ominous.
Accompanied throughout by long time co-conspirator, Kieran 'sonic-art' Harrington on double bass, this solid rock trio seek to "comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable". Support on the night to be announced.
Saturday November 9 - POST PUNK PODGE & THE TECHNOHIPPIES + Charles Hendy DJ Set - €10 - Doors 8pm
Post Punk Podge & The Technohippies is a figment of punk and the post's collective imagination in the form of a singer/rapper/musician from Limerick.
Armed with his violin, an array of effects pedals and a microphone Podge stalks the stage with all the menace of Johnny Rotten, accompanied by Dr Asparagus Montague on backing vocals and Mr. Cash 4 Gold on guitar and DJ Jurassic Park 2 on laptop and controller.
Having left a trail of money, degrees and chaotic noise wherever they have played in the summer of 2018 including Body & Soul, Electric Picnic and Knockanstockan festivals, Post Punk Podge & The Technohippies enjoy subverting genres and fusing comedic elements with a serious social conscience and message of defiance against injustices in the world.
Lyrically Podge tackles issues such as depression and anxiety, as well as the current state of affairs in Ireland and the wider world, all intertwined with his trademark wit. And who better to spin the tunes after the show than The Mary Wallopers' Charles Heady.
Tickets are on sale now at Eventbrite for only €10 (plus booking fee) Doors 8pm.
