Fundraiser set up to get home Louth Village man who suffered brain aneurysm in America

John Quail

The family and friends of John Quail, a well-known figure from Louth Village, are rallying together to bring him back home to Ireland after a devastating health crisis while on holiday in the United States.

John was in Nashville, Tennessee, to celebrate his wife Jacinta's 50th birthday on November 4th. What was meant to be a dream trip quickly turned into a nightmare when John suddenly collapsed due to a massive brain aneurysm while walking into town.

Rushed to TriStar Hospital, John underwent immediate surgery to address the life-threatening condition. After 10 days on life support, John faced multiple surgeries, including a procedure to clip the aneurysm and the insertion of a shunt to relieve pressure on his brain. Despite the severity of his condition, John is now out of the ICU but faces a long and difficult road to recovery, including intensive physiotherapy and speech therapy.

His family, including his wife Jacinta and sister Rosie, have been by his side throughout this harrowing ordeal. However, the financial burden of ongoing medical care in the U.S. has become overwhelming. With the cost of an air ambulance to bring John back to Ireland, as well as rehabilitation and recovery expenses, his loved ones have turned to the community for support.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover the costs of John's medical expenses and his return home. "Any donation, big or small, will be a massive help and greatly appreciated," his family said in the fundraising appeal.
