Newly elected Sinn Féin TD for Louth JoannaByrnehas saidshe has hit the ground running onher first day in the Dáil.
JoannaByrnesigned the register in the Oireachtas, officially taking herseat as TD forLouth yesterday.
TeachtaByrnesaid yesterday: “I have hit the ground running in the Dáil today, where I will be standing up for the people ofLouth , alongside my colleague Ruairí Ó Murchú TD.
"I want to thank each and every person who voted for me. It is a huge honour and I will not let you down.
“I am determined to deliver for people across the constituency and be a voice for ordinary workers and families in the Dáil.
"I will work tirelessly to fight for you, your family and your community.
“Today, Sinn Féin’s team of TDs met in Leinster House, along with the leadership team President Mary Lou McDonald TD and Vice President First Minister Michelle O’Neill MLA.
“We discussed our plans to deliver the change that people in Louth need.
"I know that people are really struggling and they want to see change.
"They want a government of change that will deliver on housing, health, childcare and the cost of living.
"They want a government for the future, that will make Ireland a better place to live and raise a family.
“I will be Louth'sstrong voice, standing up for the people of Louth, on the issues that matter to them.”
