A well-regarded figure in her local community, many have shared their condolences with Bridie's family and expressed their admiration and fondness for her

'Another legend gone' - Tributes pour in following the death of much loved Louth woman

Tributes have poured in following the death of 87-year-old Brigid (Bridie) McAuley (née Gorman) of Crooked St, Clogherhead, Co Louth.

Brigid passed away peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at the Louth County Hospital, Dundalk, surrounded by her family.

A well-regarded figure in her local community, many have shared their condolences with Bridie's family online and expressed their admiration and fondness for her.

Among the many condolences, people have continuously described Bridie as a "true lady" and "always friendly".

On her RIP.ie notice, one person wrote: "Another legend gone. Everyone will miss Bridie and her good humour. Rest in peace Bridie. Sympathy to Robert and the family."

Another shared: "A wonderful lady, always in good humour, with a smile and a word for everyone she met. So sorry for your loss. Bridie will be greatly missed.”

A third tribute read: "Deepest sympathy to the McAuley family on the sad passing of Bridget a true lady. May her gentle soul rest in peace."

Bridie will be reposing at Connor’s Funeral Home, Dunleer on Monday, December 16 from 4pm until 8pm. Removal on Tuesday morning to St Michael’s Church, Clogherhead arriving for Funeral Mass at 12 noon, with burial afterwards in St. Denis’s Cemetery, Clogherhead.
