New Deputy Principal for Coláiste Chú Chulainn in Dundalk

Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) said it is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Gavin Byrne, as Deputy Principal at Coláiste Chú Chulainn in Dundalk, Co. Louth.

Gavin joins the staff of Coláiste Chú Chulainn from Coláiste na Mí, Navan, where he has worked as a teacher of Technology subjects since 2016.

Gavin has also held the post of Assistant Principal at the school.

Gavin joins the senior leadership team of Mr. Thomas Sharkey, Principal, Mr. Richard Melaniphy, Deputy Principal and Ms. Niamh O’ Neill, Deputy Principal at Coláiste Chú Chulainn, Dundalk.

Gavin holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Leadership and Management in Education from Trinity College, Dublin, a Post Graduate Diploma in Education Technology from University of Limerick and a BSc in Building Surveying from Dundalk Institute of Technology.

Gavin is also completing a Masters in Leadership and Management in Education at present in Trinity College Dublin.

Gavin has developed a range of experience and competency in many areas throughout his career path to date and he looks forward to bringing these diverse experiences to his new role at Coláiste Chú Chulainn.

As a Deputy Principal within the LMETB Schools Directorate, Gavin will have the collegial support of the Senior Management teams in LMETB’s seventeen other Post Primary schools, four Community National Schools, Cara Community Special School, three PLC colleges and the Centre for European Schooling in Dunshaughlin.

LMETB schools receive considerable support, guidance and direction from the Director of Schools, Ms. Fiona Kindlon and within the Organisation, Support and Development Directorate, LMETB Schools and Colleges avail of a range of supports including Human Resources, Buildings, ICT, Finance and Corporate and Education Services.

This network of support at Head Office level supports the work of the LMETB Board in ensuring that all LMETB schools/colleges/centres are compliant in the areas of Corporate Governance.

Gavin said he looks forward to engaging with personnel in these sections of LMETB over the coming weeks as he plans for transition to his new leadership role within LMETB.
