Heartbreak in Louth following unexpected death of young man with 'heart of gold'

Karl Vogelaar passed away on Friday aged 33

Tributes have been paid following the sad and unexpected death of young man, Karl Vogelaar.

Karl, late of Oulster Lane, Drogheda, Co Louth, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 21, 2025, aged 33 years.

Karl is predeceased by his Nanas Bernie and Patsy.

Beloved son to Vivienne and Peter, Karl will be so sadly missed by his Mam, Dad, brothers Peter and Marco, sisters Christine and Stacey, son Cody and his Mam Aoife, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, extended family and a wide circle of friends.

Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Karl, with one mourner writing,

"Deepest and sincere sympathy to Karl's Mam and Dad , and to all of Karl's extended family and friends. In his early teens I enjoyed collecting him for football training and playing with the O Raghallaigh's. Karl was a great character, very funny lad and a talented footballer. May God bless him and may he rest in peace. I am shocked and saddened to hear this tragic news today."

Another wrote,

"A massive condolence to all of Karl's family. He was a great guy with a heart of gold and a great sense of humour. Karl is and will be very much missed."

While a close family member wrote,

"Heartbreaking to hear this news. My sincere condolences to Peter, Vivienne, Cody, Aoife, Peter, Marco, Christine and Stacey. We'll get to have that lunch we were talking about when we meet again Karl. Sleep tight dear cousin."

Funeral Arrangements

Karls’ reposing will be for family and close friends only. Funeral Mass on Friday at 11am in Holy Family Church, Ballsgrove with cremation afterwards in Dardistown Crematorium at 1.30pm. Family flowers only please.

At the request of Karl’s family, please wear brightly coloured clothes to his funeral.
